Welcome to the African Youth Water Forum

By AYWF Secretariat

Water affects everything: health, education, food security, climate resilience, economic growth, and human dignity. Yet millions of Africans still lack access to safe water and sanitation. The African Youth Water Forum (AYWF) exists to change that, by putting young people at the centre of the continent's water agenda.

Why we are starting now

AYWF believes that African challenges require African solutions, and that youth, the continent's largest demographic, are best positioned to drive that change. Convened by Young Visionary Leaders Ghana in 2026, the forum connects youth voices, strengthens regional collaboration, and influences policy on water, sanitation, and climate resilience.

What we are building toward 2030

  • An annual African Youth Water Declaration.
  • 5 Regional Youth Water Hubs by 2028.
  • 1,000 youth leaders trained by 2030.
  • Partnerships with 20 governments and 50 institutions.

Our maiden flagship event, the AYWF Water Justice Conference 1.0, lands in November 2026 and will produce Africa's first youth-authored continental water policy declaration.
