To commemorate World Water Day 2026, the African Youth Water Forum (AYWF) joined the global community in observing the theme "Water and Gender." The event highlighted the critical intersection between gender equality and equitable access to water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH). AYWF hosted a virtual panel discussion that brought together participants from across Africa, including Ghana, Nigeria, Lesotho, Malawi, Benin, and Kenya, to explore how gender influences access to water resources, participation in water governance, and the achievement of sustainable development. The discussion reinforced AYWF’s commitment to promoting inclusive water governance, gender-responsive approaches, and youth leadership in advancing water security and water justice across Africa.
